In 2024, Cleveland Clinic was accused of violating anti-discrimination laws by a law group for prioritizing certain patients over others based on skin color (the Minority Stroke Program and the Minority Men’s Health Center). The complaint alleged Cleveland Clinic violated federal anti-discrimination laws by not allowing all patients to participate.
Cleveland Clinic hired Jacqui Robertson as Chief of Diversity of Inclusion to “lead efforts that will further diversity and inclusion across the health system.” In a 2023 interview, Robertson stated: “I don’t believe that diversity and inclusion should ever be a standalone strategy. It has to be embedded in everything that we do. And so that’s our processes, that’s our metrics.”
Cleveland Clinic promotes eleven different Employee Resource Groups for women, LGBT individuals, African Americans, Latinos to educate and train employees to increase “cultural competency.”
Cleveland Clinic declares racism to be a “public health crisis” and established an Executive Diversity, Inclusion And Racial Equity Council “to examine and promote policies to eliminate racism, bias, and health disparities.”
Cleveland Clinic engaged in deliberate race-based hiring discrimination by specifically committing to “train, hire and promote one million Black Americans into family-sustaining jobs with opportunities for advancement” without offering a similar opportunity for job-seekers of other backgrounds.
Cleveland Clinic is a self-proclaimed leader in climate activism, spending millions on the far-left climate agenda.
Cleveland Clinic is a voluntary signatory of the UN’s Global Compact and has subjected itself to meet the UN’s Sustainability Development Goals and is a member of the international body’s Global Reporting Initiative.
In a letter to the patients, caregivers and community members, Cleveland Clinic CEO Tom Mihaljevic, MD stated: “Our sustainability program is setting an example for healthcare organizations…. Our ultimate goal is to be carbon neutral by 2027 by further reducing emissions, being more energy efficient and sourcing renewable energy.”
In the 2023 Sustainability & Global Citizenship Report, Cleveland Clinic stated top priorities of the clinic are climate mitigation and resilience, sustainable cities and communities, and a sustainable value chain.
In 2016, the Clinic launched the “largest green revolving fund in healthcare,” pledging $7.5 million annually towards greening initiatives, including a “Greening Our [Operating Rooms]” initiative that focused on making ORs more climate friendly.
Cleveland Clinic embraces radical transgenderism, even for children.
In December 2024, Cleveland Clinic opened a new facility in Florida designed exclusively for LGBTQ+ patients to provide “inclusive” transgender care.
Cleveland Clinic has administered transgender care to hundreds of kids, which included irreversible surgeries and the prescribing of hormone puberty blockers.
Cleveland Clinic has published articles with controversial claims such as: young kids are not too young to understand or question gender; puberty blockers are appropriate; and hormone therapy has “a positive impact” on youth struggling with body image.
Cleveland Clinic boasts about its top marks from the Human Rights Campaign Healthcare Equality Index. In 2024 it received 100 rating and was designated as a “Leader” in LGBTQ+ health care.
Cleveland Clinic lobbied against the SAFE Act, which prohibits transgender care on minors, in the Ohio legislature. Even after the legislation was signed into law, Cleveland Clinic still meets with kids “to discuss their gender questions.”
